Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to carry a backpack while trekking?

No. You need to have a small cinch-sack or similar type bag to keep with you during the bus ride and while on the trail with the items you need for the day, but you won’t need to carry this far–maybe a few minutes around the visitors center and from the bus to your campsite.

You’ll bring most of your items in a backpack that you won’t have access to during the day. You’ll pack your extra clothes, toiletries, etc. in your backpack which will be stowed in bus storage and transported by our logistics team. You’ll have access to this bag when you are at your campsites.

Can we bring cell phones?

No, we are asking the youth to leave their cell phones home. We will have photographers along the trail, and your ma’s and pa’s will also have phones they can use to take pictures and share after trek. The service is minimal along the trail so don’t risk a busted screen and leave it safe at home. Leaders will be able to to communicate with anyone at home in case of an emergency.

Are there bathrooms or are the facilities reminiscent of the pioneers too?

We will have very clean vault toilets and port-a-potties at the campsites and at certain points along the trail. The senior missionaries keep them very clean, so we ask you keep them clean and don’t make their job any harder!

And anyone not following instructions might get an opportunity to assist the missionaries with that job! 😉
