It’s time to get ready! Trek will be an unforgettable experience that will both stretch you and bless you. We urge you to begin to prepare now!

President Dedrickson promised those who prepare themselves physically, mentally and spiritually will receive 1) an increase of faith, 2) more spiritual strength to overcome things that are depriving them of freedom and joy, and 3) spiritual experiences of greater intensity than they have had previously.

We are planning to leave on Wednesday morning (July 29th) and travel to Sixth Crossing on charter buses organized by age group. We’ll visit the Sixth Crossing visitors center, enjoy square dancing with the Cottonwood Heights Stake and set up camp.

We will then trek 2 full days from Sixth Crossing to Sage Campground and then to Rock Creek Hollow Campground (including Rocky Ridge) on Thursday and Friday (July 30th and 31st), returning home on Saturday (August 1st) mid-afternoon.

All youth who will be entering their freshman year of high school this fall (or who are turning 14 by December 31st) and older are invited to join us for an unforgettable experience of faith, friendship, and fun.

A Rare Opportunity to Experience Sixth Crossing Trail

We have the unique opportunity to experience the Sixth Crossing Trail, newly reopened after more than a decade. Learn more about the trail and its history in this video

An Unforgettable Experience

On October 19, 1856, a severe snowstorm hit the plains of Wyoming. Despite these harsh conditions, the Willie handcart company continued to push and pull toward their sixth crossing of the frigid Sweetwater River. Two days later, the company encountered relief wagons sent from Salt Lake City, providing them with desperately needed food, clothing, and wagons.

In their haggard condition, the suffering Willie company rejoiced and thanked God. But even amidst the rescue relief, a number of the company died at Sixth Crossing. The rescuers helped the survivors travel the remaining 270 miles to their destination in Salt Lake City, including the grueling Rocky Ridge to Rock Creek Hollow and the South Pass on the Continental Divide.

We have the opportunity to be among the first groups in many years to trek through and visit these sacred spaces.
